Besides touring, Kollman have also seen to it that the (re-mastered) re-release of the long out-of-print JEFF KOLLMAN (COSMOSQUAD, GLENN HUGHES, BOMBASTIC MEATBATS, ASIA feat. JOHN PAYNE, ALAN PARSONS LIVE PROJECT) solo album, ‘Shedding Skin’, originally issued in 1999, is now available as a digipak CD and digital download.

This is the first album Jeff recorded after moving to Los Angeles from his home town of Toledo, OH (via Phoenix AZ). ‘Shedding Skin’, his third overall solo album, shows marked growth in all areas compared to his earlier releases. Less flashy and with an emphasis on well composed songs, ‘Shedding Skin’ saw Jeff come truly into his own both as a guitarist and songwriter.

From fierce heavy rock to ethereal moments, funky metallic jams to intimate acoustic pieces, with nods to Stevie Ray Vaughan (‘Blues For Pop’) and King’s X (‘The X Factor’) along the way, ‘Shedding Skin’ is testimony to Jeff’s multi-faceted vocabulary as a guitar player and versatility as a composer as he takes the listener on a musical ‘Journey Through Life’, one of the key tracks on the album.

On a historic note, ‘Shedding Skin’ is also where the current COSMOSQUAD line-up consisting of Jeff, drummer Shane Gaalaas (B’z, Diesel Machine, Toque) and bassist Kevin Chown (Tarja, Bombastic Meatbats, Paul Gilbert) first recorded together, some 18 years before creating 2017’s highly acclaimed ‘The Morbid Tango’. In addition, the album also features strong contributions from bassist Ray Riendeau (Halford, Two, Machines of Loving Grace), original COSMOSQUAD bassist Barry Sparks (MSG, Dokken, Yngwie Malmsteen), pianist Dale Grisa, and the late Roger Burn on piano and keyboards. Shane Gaalaas features on drums on all tracks.

Several of the tunes on ‘Shedding Skin’ are still part of the JK and COSMOSQUAD live set and have become fan favorites over the years, further testimony to the album’s staying power.
