Syncage is an amazing italian art-rock/prog quartet. They are not metal. They are not progressive. They are not alternative. They reject genre, and let Western and non-Western, fusion and art-rock, progressive and heavy, coexist in their music. They are Italian, but they look beyond national borders, creating imaginative music that evokes all manner of colours, atmospheres, and visual experiences.
Matteo and Riccardo Nicolin, Matteo Graziani and Daniele Tarabini have been making music together for almost ten years, but the last few years have seen a sudden swell of productivity, starting with 2014’s ‘Hellhound’ single and ‘Italiota’ EP; now, over a year in the making, their first full album ‘Unlike Here’ is set to showcase the band’s uniquely experimental fusion of jazz, metal, art-rock and classic Italian prog. The album was recorded in analog Proscodimi Recording Studios by italian well-known producer Mike 3rd (Pat Mastelotto, Tony Levin, Benny Greb, ExKGB etc.) and mastered by great Ronan Chris Murphy (King Crimson, Robert Fripp, Steve Morse).
“Unlike Here” is an explosion of finely honed creativity of the sort Bad Elephant Music has come to champion. David Elliott of BEM says: “This is the kind of music we love here at BEM. It’s rare for a band’s output to be this varied and still maintain a strong sense of style, but these guys pull it off, and we’re thrilled to be able to share it with you.”
Matteo Nicolin adds:
“We are extremely honoured and grateful to become part of the BEM family. We believe music should be a free, no-compromise artistic and creative journey, to be carried out within the context of friendship, lack of prejudice and willingness to integrate. BEM perfectly matches with such intentions – it’s so refreshing and beautiful to know that there are people who see music under this very light.”
“Unlike Here” will be released by Bad Elephant Music on 5/5/17.
Syncage will have a “Unlike Here European Tour” starting from Amsterdam, more new dates are going to be announced:
