Dutch progressive rock band Clockwork is set to release their new EP “Unbreakable”, featuring three new songs and one exciting re-recording of their epic 9+ minute song ‘Daughter Earth’. With guest vocals by the amazing Jan Willem Ketelaers, also known for his work with The Classic Rock Show, The Who’s Tommy in Concert, Arjen Lucassen’s Ayreon and his latest project ‘Into The Open’.

Clockwork has been creating progressive rock music since their start in 2007. After their first full album release in 2010, the band was set back due to the fact that their lead vocalist was forced to stop making music because of medical issues. The band was set on finally releasing some new material in 2017, so they collaborated with Jan Willem Ketelaers for this ‘Unbreakable’ release.

Jan Willem comments:
“I’ve known Bas for quite a while now, so when he asked me to do the vocals for this new Clockwork EP and after hearing some material I instantly agreed. Working with these talented guys on this EP was really exciting and I hope you will enjoy it.”

With musical passages ranging from atmospheric, Pink Floyd-esque sections to full-on rock with soaring leads and memorable melodies, ‘Unbreakable’ showcases a wide array of Clockwork’s musical sides and is a prelude for more to come!

The EP will be available online (via iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, Juke, Google, Amazon etc.) and as a hard copy in record stores or via RVP Records on August 25.

Track list:
1. Unbreakable
2. Subject to Change

Band biography:
Clockwork is a symphonic progressive rock band from the south of the Netherlands. The band is formed in 2007 and they released their self produced debut album ‘Dawn’ in the spring of 2010. Their second release followed in 2017 with their ‘Unbreakable’ EP. Their driving, theatrical and sometimes cinematic music, combined with virtuosity and spontaneity make it one unique musical experience.

The band members are Bas Welling (guitar), Ivo Cleven (drums), Remy Smeets (synthesizers) and Sjon Bremmer (bass guitar). The band was formed in high school where Ivo, Remy and Bas met through their common passion and love for progressive rock music. Just three rehearsals old this ‘power trio’ played seven Dream Theater songs as part of a school assignment. A couple of month’s and a Dutch TV appearance later they recorded their first song, the instrumental track ‘The Discovery’. Shortly after that singer Rob Bolk and bass player Sjon Bremmer joined the band, making their first appearance as a full band on November 28th of 2008 in their hometown Brunssum. After a short period of gigs and writing sessions it was time to debut their first album. The self written, recorded and produced album is called ‘Dawn’. On the 2nd of April 2010 they released the album in a sold out Theater Landgraaf by performing the entire album live followed by a set of prog-rock covers. A unique event that would make a lasting impression on the band.

The following years would be a mix of occasional gigs and writing new music. In 2014 the band signed with RVPrecords and re-released their debut album ‘Dawn’ and made it available on all popular streaming services. Shortly after that the situation became difficult for the band when singer Rob was forced to quit the band for medical reasons, and bassist Sjon got a job opportunity in Germany, which meant he was less available to the band. Nevertheless the band continued writing new music and playing live. Sometimes playing instrumental shows with covers from Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment. But one of the highlights during this time was their show with the brass and woodwind orchestra Concordia Treebeek at the Classic Meets Rock show in 2015.

In 2017 the band is still without a lead vocalist, even after a search of almost three years. The new music that has been written was always intending to contain lead vocals, so in order to release this music the band set out to find a guest vocalist. This marked the start of a collaboration with Jan Willem Ketelaers (Ayreon, Epic Rock Choir, The Classic Rock Show and Into The Open) and with that they went on to finish some of the new material. Now Clockwork is set to release their EP called ‘Unbreakable’ on August 25th 2017! Follow the band to stay up to date on the latest news and witness how this clock keeps on ticking.
