The Fierce And The Dead have come a long way since their debut release, the Part 1 EP, was released in 2010. The Euphoric is both a re-statement of their signature twin-guitar attack that “rebounds around the gaps between garage rock, prog, highlife and post-hardcore” (Misfit City) and a development of their sound with the addition of synthesized textures. Fans of the band needn’t worry, though; The Euphoric hits as hard as anything the band have ever done in the past!

Says Matt Stevens (guitar): “It’s heavier and more psychedelic, bit more spacey, more synths, more downtuned guitars. Some of the riffs are a bit more straightforward and it’s got one tune on it that is the most complex rhythmically that we’ve done. The Euphoric will be a surprise to some people, we change with each record, we always have”.

Long-time collaborator Mark Buckingham has pulled another visual rabbit out of the hat with stunning original artwork for the album. The album is available on both CD and vinyl LP formats, with limited edition bundles including a print of Mark’s cover art, and a bonus CD which will only be available to those that pre-order. There’s also a new, limited edition T-shirt available to pre-order too.

Formed in 2010 as an instrumental three piece, The Fierce And The Dead’s sound has constantly evolved since debuting with a 19-minute one track EP, Part 1, that combined epic post rock with electronica, Krautrock and psychedelia. 2011’s self-released debut album, If It Carries On Like This We Are Moving To Morecambe added hardcore punk, jazz and ambient influences into the mix. These albums started to attract a cult following and critical acclaim from the underground and mainstream music press.

In 2011 the band started playing live the with the addition of second guitarist Steve Cleaton, giving a heavier edge to their sound that carried over to the On VHS EP (2012), which included live favourite 666…6., and which drew comparisons to King Crimson and Black Flag. More touring followed including the Prog Magazine sponsored ‘Stabbing A Dead Horse’ package tour with Knifeworld and Trojan Horse, and the band’s music also featured in numerous appearances on snooker player and ‘interesting’ music fan Steve Davis’ radio show.

2013 saw the band sign with Bad Elephant Music for the release of their second album, Spooky Action. Ever-evolving, Spooky added Televison-style interlocking guitars, math metal and songs about quantum physics to the mix. The album was featured in numerous blogs and magazines end-of-year lists, and received critical acclaim in Total Guitar, Rock A Rolla, Classic Rock, Echoes And Dust and numerous other journals. They finished the year with a nomination for a Prog Magazine Award for best new act. Spooky Action gigs continued into 2014 as they remixed F.U.R.S., headlined the Strangeforms festival in Leeds, played alongside Anathema and toured the UK to an ever-growing fan base.

In 2015 they released the Magnet EP which sold out its first edition prior to release. They played many more gigs including supporting Dave Lombardo’s post Slayer project Philm, Crippled Black Phoenix and The Aristocrats. They headlined Riff-Fest in Manchester with Cleft, Alright The Captain and many others and played the Arctangent festival alongside 65daysofstatic, Deafheaven and Deerhoof. The following year they were the first instrumental act selected to play at the Ramblin’ Man festival with Hawkwind, Europe & Whitesnake, alongside other festival appearances, and gigs with amongst others Chuck Mosley of Faith No More, Hark, Evil Blizzard and PFM.

In 2017 The Fierce And The Dead played in US at the esteemed RoSFest festival in Gettysburg and released a well-received live album Field Recordings, recorded at Ramblin Man in 2016, alongside numerous festival appearances and shows with Big Business, Monkey3 and many others.
