Midori is from SVIN’s forthcoming fifth album Virgin Cuts, out September 21st on Mom Eat Dad Records.

Everything Is Noise notes: “Midori is a patient and hypnotic piece of music, which takes a subtle rhythmical premise and gradually builds upon it to create a wonderfully layered and mysterious experience. The video, which was animated by Kristian Paulsen, is equally as intriguing, mixing abstract visuals, a symbolic narrative, and some dreamy colors, all in perfect motion with song’s spacey tempo.”

Virgin Cuts presents a unique kind of music that leads the listener into a sonic loophole between noise-infested rock, droney landscapes, new age minimalism and dusty afro- tripping; etheric chords from the keyboard merges with almost hip-hoppy drumbeats and psychedelic guitar-patterns.

SVIN celebrates its 10th anniversary as a band by releasing Virgin Cuts – the band’s most complex and thoroughly produced album so far. The album is out on September 21st 2018 on the Danish label Mom Eat Dad Records.

Since debuting in 2011 with the album Heimat, SVIN has made a deep impact on the international music scene, with four previous studio albums and numerous tours and concerts all over Europe and Russia with highlights such as Roskilde Festival (DK), Eurosonic (NL), by:Larm (NO) and 12 Points Festival (IR). SVIN recorded their latest critically acclaimed album, Missionær (2016), in the legendary Sundlaugin studios founded by Sigur Rós in Iceland, with inspirations from the epic surroundings.

Virgin Cuts is the fifth studio album from SVIN, but the first as a trio. Since parting ways with a member the band has developed an ambiguous, often darker and more complex sound performed on woodwinds, electronics, drums and guitars with guest features on violin, vocals and keyboards.

Virgin Cuts was recorded in only one cold day in a small studio on the outskirts of Copenhagen and bears the witness of an album that is highly improvised, collectively composed and a band on a constant journey within the music. Drawing heavily on inspiration from nature, folklore, ceremonial music and avant- garde, SVIN transcends the genre-borders in music and continues to surprise the listener throughout the entire album.

“When dealing with a departure of a member you suddenly look at the band and the unity with new eyes and you start to dissolve the ways you have been doing things before. When working with Virgin Cuts we really felt we could open up and work more freely with the music than ever – take more chances and work in new directions. This album kind of marks how we ‘cut’ our way through a lot of issues.” – SVIN
