It has often been pointed out to me during my reviewing career, often by my family, that I am somewhat unusual and could actually be viewed as being downright weird. I prefer to think of myself as having a broad and diverse taste in music, but even I cannot understand why I find grindcore so relaxing, inviting, and warm. Putting on a blasting grindcore album, even from a band I know nothing about, is like welcoming an old friend home, particularly when it as solid as the debut from this San Jose, California-based grindcore trio that features current and former members of Deadpressure, In Disgust, and Mortuous among others.

15 songs, 17 minutes, Colin Tarvin (bass, vocals), Matt Gomes (guitar) and Cris Rodriguez (drums) are here to make a statement which they do in an incredibly melodic manner. There is a purpose in this music, and they shift and move time signatures and styles to provide plenty of dynamics within the album as a whole. It was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios (Necrot, Vastum, Brainoil) in Oakland, California, and there is no doubt that he assisted in bringing out some melodic death tendencies which works incredibly well. This is a cry back to the early days of the genre, but pushed somewhat away from the more punk and hardcore approach into something with more depth and polish. All the guys have been working in other bands for some time, but they have come together here to create a grindcore album which is just a load of fun. I am already looking forward to the next one.
