It is safe to say that the London-based trio of Tom Bradfield (guitars, vocals), Tom Carter (bass) and Mauro Hammerition (drums) have had a rather slow burn, but with the release of their second album, 2020’s ‘A Resting Place For The Wrathful’, they have definitely picked up the pace. Here we have an EP containing four more new songs, with some wonderful cinematic dialogue in between brutal death metal which is powerful, melodic and engaging while never losing any of that unstoppable force of nature mentality. This is old school BDM, harsh and abrasive with a vocal style that is guttural and in the lowest registers one can imagine while the guitars blast and the bass and drums lock horns.

If that were all we had here then I would be recommending this release, but they have also decided to add recording of their entire set at Xxxapada Na Tromba festival that took place in Lisbon, Portugal in January 2020, before the jaws of lockdown snapped shut. This gives us another nine songs, and a total running length has been taken from 13 minutes to 46. It allows us to hear the band in their natural environment, in front of a crowd who are baying for more. Interestingly, we still get some of the taped interludes being used in their live set. It sounds more like a good bootleg than a quality live recording, but for this style of music that actually works, as it feels so raw and full of passion. This is a great introduction to this brutal act, showing two different sides of their music. For fans of the genre this is well worth investigating.
