US composer and musician Tony WHITLOCK is an unknown entity to me, but it would appear that he have a few productions available from previous years, made available on the Bandcamp system. “Secret Keepers” is an EP that dates back to 2013, and is his contribution to US label Silber Records “5 in 5” conceptual series of EPs.

What Whitlock provides on this occasion are material are soundscapes revolving around drones. Dark and light toned drones creating nice and natural contrasts, slow ambient excursions with dark ominous undercurrents contrasted by a lighter toned nervous texture, yet another dark and ominous drone with a contrasting texture, siren-inspired sounds and a breathing effect for added creepiness and cosmic vibes too, light toned hammering sounds supplemented by a dampened secondary motif of the same kind breaking down into siren-like sounds and cosmic noises, and at last metallic hammering noises with an underlying dark drone and a subtle, swirling noise on top.

Lots of drones, all of them with good and distinct contrasting elements, and with a fair few instances of effects and details that tends to be described somewhere within a cosmic context. An intriguing production on a number of different levels, obviously with fans of drone oriented material as a key audience. Those among them that does take the time to sample the contents of this production should find “Secret Keepers” to be a most charming little production.
