US artist Carl KRUGER has been releasing a fair amount of music as a standalone artist, and has a penchant for noise music of the more experimental kind. “Sexist Tranny” was released in 2013, and is his contribution to US label Silber Records ongoing “5 in 5” series of EPs.

This 5 minute long EP won’t be to everybody’s taste, that is most certain. Silber Records is a home to many artists with a fairly narrow scope from what I have experienced so far, and Kruger’s creation is no exception here.

Surging noises, electronic clicks, nervous drones, static interruptions, hisses, dramatic noise surges and ominous, futuristic effects combine in a fairly challenging manner on this EP. The dominant feature are noises without any strong relation to music, melodies or conventional note structures as such, nor can they be said to be of a cinematic nature. These are electronic  noisescapes, where any melodic or cinematic tendencies may be more accidental than intended.

Personally I found the opening and concluding constellations to be mildly intriguing in this case, the former a dark, futuristic construction with a subtle industrial touch and a distinct ominous atmosphere, the latter a nervous pulsating affair with clicks and hisses that grows an unnerving undercurrent, intrusive effects and dark ominous pulses towards the end. The trio in the middle became too noise oriented for my taste though. Still, this is a fine production of it’s kind, and those with a keen interest in electronic noisescapes should seek this one out.
