Swedish band LÅNGFINGER has been around since 2008, and have steadily released material and played live ever since. The single “Mangas Colorados” dates back to the start of 2015, and was self-released digitally by the band at the start of that year.

The main track comes across as a fairly US-centric vintage style hard rock affair, with more emphasis on the rock aspect than the hard one. Plucked instrument details and galloping rhythms is the order of the day, with a few subtle features in the guitar department in particular that comes with associations towards spaghetti westerns, and otherwise blues and late 60’s to early 70’s garage rock often comes to mind.

This track is paired off with a live recording of the track A Subtle Live, which first appeared on their debut album “Skygrounds” from 2010. This is more of a boogie rock meets garage rock affair, straight forward and to the point in a sort of early UFO meets The Who kind of way. Pleasantly charming and most likely a piece that goes down a storm live in concert.

A worthwhile single to grab if 70’s style vintage hard rock is your thing, and then especially if you have a soft spot for the US variety of this style as explored so nicely on the main song Mangas Colorados.

My rating: 70/100
