RICHARD BONE (born February 3, 1952 – Atlanta, GA) has been creating music since his early teens. He began his professional musical career by creating soundtracks and scores for off-Broadway companies working in experimental theatre. In 1979, he released with his band Bone the single Pirate the Islands/Headlines Have It before joining the legendary new-wave band Shox Lumania in 1981. Richard then recorded a 7″ entitled Digital Days/Alien Girl independently and was subsequently signed to the UK based label Survival Records where he released several LPs, EPs, singles and contributed to various compilation albums. His 1983 single Joy of Radiation reached #1 on the Hong Kong dance music charts. Since then he’s release several albums, three of which quickly rose to the #1 placement on industry charts and those three, along with several others, have also received numerous other honours.
Age of Falconry is Richard’s first release with Mega Dodo. Richard’s versatile compositions walk the edge of combining the abstract with contemporary electronica. His music steps out of the ordinary, transforms into unusual shapes and spheres, the latter ranging from hypnotizing and a bit foreboding to free form compositions with quirky elements occasionally lurking underneath. Age of Falconry has a haunting beauty at work on many of its tracks, juxtaposed with a cheery warmth, both elements sitting comfortably next to each other despite their polar opposite natures. It takes a special artist to make this work, but then, this is Mr. Bone we’re speaking of, so why am I not surprised?
