This is the debut two-track EP from Crows Over Brávellir, a band formed by past and current members of Darkified and Grave. They are attempting to bring to life ancient tales from Scandinavia, blending history, myth and fantasy with epic symphonic heavy metal, doom, black metal and traditional Swedish folk music into one. A heavily distorted bass allows them to create huge layers of sound, like a blanket being thrown over the speaker, with plenty of feedback being added as they overdrive the guitars. This EP was originally released last Summer, and gained a certain reputation in the independent scene, so was picked up by Dawnbreed Records and reissued towards the end of the year. This is dark, atmospheric music, showing a great deal of promise. Well worth investigating while we wait for the album.
