The problem with a side project is that reviewers are duty bound to mention the other bands, even if the side project has been in existence for quite some time and is a valid entity in its own right. Well, I don’t want to break any rules, so for those who don’t know, this band was originally put together by Shagrath from Dummu Borgir. Now, he doesn’t provide vocals (just bv), as his main role here is providing rhythm guitar and instead of symphonic black metal instead we have traditional heavy metal with some teutonic power metal influences. Certainly, one would be hard pressed to realise this was a Norwegian act, as they have more in common with the likes of Accept and Rage. Singer Eddie Guz may not have appeared on the last two albums, but he is now back where he belongs, just as he was on the first two.

Although this is nice and heavy, there is also a great deal of melody, and the smoothness of the chords are taken to another level by the gruff vocals. Here is a band wearing biker and outlaw cowboy influences for all to see, and mighty fine it is too. Yes, it is all seems very basic, and if I had reviewed this having only played it a few times I know I wouldn’t be as complimentary as I am now, but after playing the album a lot I can honestly say it is a load of fun, and sometimes isn’t that all we want from our music? Nothing pretentious, just four guys plugging in and having fun, with stacks of melody and hooks. It may not win any prizes for originality, but if you want music to make you smile and bang the noggin then this is it.
