If any popular rock band were going to do Beatles tribute, then surely the optimal would be these guys as they have used that band as a base ever since they started the best part of 40 years ago. Many of their own songs sound like what The Beatles would be doing now if they had moved into a more melodic rock area, so this tribute makes perfect musical sense. What the guys have done is taken their favourite Beatles songs, plus one by Plastic Ono Band and two by Wings, and then interpreted them in their own fashion. The only niggle with this is going to be down to individual choice of the songs, but the ten they came up with are all totally valid and work incredibly well as Enuff Z’nuff numbers, which isn’t at all surprising really.

This is not the first time this has been undertaken of course, with my personal favourite being Yellow Matter Custard, but that band was put together solely for playing Beatles covers as opposed to an already existing outfit. I would have loved to have heard them go for “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” to see how it stacked up against Paul Gilbert shredding it to pieces, and really wish they had undertaken “Band On The Run” as I can see that working so well, but that is nit picking as “Helter Skelter” is a triumph, “Live and Let Die” is far truer to the original that Guns ‘n’ Roses and I feel works much better, while “Back In The U.S.S.R.” is a really fun romp which has more than a little Motley Crue swagger in it as well.
This is a load of fun from beginning to end, and sometimes that is all music needs to be.
