Label Echo Zone  EZ15C1710 Re-Release 2022

Germany CD 28 mins First Released 2015   https://www.facebook.com/eigensinnlive/

Eigensinn is a Heavy Rock band from ‘Neuenstadt am Kocher’ in South West Germany just North of Stuttgart. Their 28 min EP titled ‘Post Mortem’ found its way to HOP for review. Almost certainly submitted by ‘Echozone’ their music label at the time and which supports a wide range of independent music. This is presumed simply because close inspection of Eigensinns web site there is no mention any such re-release of their 2015 EP titled ‘Post Motem’. Hopefully this reissue, as such, will be a pleasant surprise ‘Eigensinn’ were founded in 2003 when Nemesis (Vocals) and Holly (Guitar), who had both previously played with the band ‘Weve’ got together with Marc Peters on bass and ‘Thomas “Maschine” Paslawski’ on drums. The desire of a self-imposed mandate for the vocals to be sung in the German language and which then subsequently pushed the direction of the band to a much more vigorous hard rock direction and the release of a self-titled album was released. From further research it can be established that despite this harder rock edge the band offered a more versatile front with forays along pathways of Goth and other darker edged music with enormous credit going towards the adaptable female vocals projected by Nemesis.

Such versatility is amply demonstrated with their 2015 EP titled ‘Post Mortem’ and which now has a timely re-issue. Whilst the feel of the music can be described as guitar driven hard rock Each of the six tracks takes on a slightly different feel with accompaniments of electronic percussive additions, fills of choral harmonic washes and well considered guitar and energetic drumming with composite bass lines throughout.

Above all the intriguing female vocals act as the focal point of the proceedings. ‘Nemesis’ with her energetic yet stylish vocals moves through several guises throughout the six tracks, even extending her vocal range to even match similarities with Kate Bush.  Above all she has a superb rock voice

Summary: A good solid and interesting album from the past with good vocals with an exciting collection of energetic powerful hard rock.
