This is the debut four-track EP from Bristol-based metalheads Martyrs Saint and comprise Brandon Goodair (guitar/vocals), Amaré Hurley (lead guitar/backing vocals), Louie Hawkes (drums), and Harvey Lewis (bass). To be honest, if it wasn’t for the vocals I would probably guess they were from New York, as this reminds me of the aggression and style of Life of Agony and Biohazard as they mix hardcore aggression with old school thrash and then throw it into a Scott Burns blender.
This is music which was popular in the underground more than 30 years ago, uncompromising and full of aggression and hate and these guys have all of that in spades. This is full on metal with nothing fancy, guitar solos which concentrate on musicality as opposed to blistering speed, and songs with genuine metal hooks and the knowledge that if they are like this in the studio what on earth are they like live?! Here is a band to keep an eye on, and if you like raw and aggressive metal then they are worth checking out.
