Although this may seem as if it is another seasonal digital only single (and it is these things as well, to be fair), what we have here is a really interesting take on folk-rock, and while based in the folk tradition there is actually far more going on than one might expect from the name of the band, or the cover art. One of the reasons is this is a band born out of the Gryphon camp with Graeme Taylor, Jonathan Davie and Michael Gregory as the main band. Their album ‘In Their Prime’ is due out early next year on Talking Elephant and will feature special guests such as Brian Gulland and the late Bill Caddick, but until then this is available for just 99p on Amazon and it is an enjoyable romp – imagine Gryphon playing folk instead of prog and you may just get there. I love it.
