There can be few bands who have been going as long as these guys without a single line-up change, but Isaiah Mitchell (vocals, guitars), Mike Eginton (bass) and Mario Rubalcaba (drums) came together in 2001, and although they took a couple of years off, they’re still playing the same psychedelic krautrock-inspired stoner rock they always have.

Recorded live at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA on March 1st , 2018, this captures the guys in their natural element, on stage. Some of their songs are written, others are improvised, and they state they are influenced by Miles Davis, something I can’t imagine many metal bands saying. This is intensely heavy, with loads of bottom end and feedback bleeding everywhere, and really sounds as if it should have been released 45 years ago at least. If ever an album needs to be listened to on vinyl, this has to be it. Only seven songs, but this is still 65 minutes long, and is mostly instrumental although Mitchell doesn’t do a bad job singing as they storm through “Communication Breakdown”. The sweat, heat and energy pours out of this recording, and if you like this style of music this truly is essential.
