“Taj” is the friulian word for “cut”. Now this word seems to be quite polysemous and some of its meanings are noteworthy. The action of cutting can be seen as therapeutic (the surgeon cuts the patient), it can be a sign of caregiving (the mother cutting her son’s food into little pieces), it can also mark a dividing line (with the unacceptable maybe), it has to do with gemstones as well (so it’s related with giving something a shape) and sets out the style of a tailor or a film maker (the editing is crucial indeed). Cutting can also refer to the deletion of something (which is, again, crucial in music), it can be seen as an intersection (of different roads?), it can cause pain but it can open new paths as well. But the truth is that “taj”, in Italy, is generally known for its main meaning: It’s a glass of wine!

“Tajs!” is the new album by Italian band Officina F.lli Seravalle, and is out now on Italian label Lizard Records.
