When I reviewed their debut album, ‘Anorexic Insect’, I said their music reminded me of “System For A Down mating with Throbbing Gristle, and bringing to life a bastard offspring that not only contains elements of both bands (and Serj Tankian’s orchestral exploits to boot) but also the brutal force of death metal”. Since then, they have reduced from a trio to a duo with Jared still providing vocals and lyrics while Piton (also of Ygodeh) now provides all the music and composition. Here on their third album they have gone even further down whatever hole they have uncovered, producing uncompromising punk-led art rock which contains huge elements of dance as well as industrial and metal elements.

Whereas I was sent that release by the band, this time around it came from a PR company, and I emailed back to them thanking them for it, and I was told this would give me “complete and utter madness”, but given I knew the guys were certifiable I expected nothing less. The weird thing, the really weird thing, is there is a weird commercial bent to this as if David Byrne had just come out of an insane asylum. Of all bands I could think of, it is Talking Heads which this reminds me most of but twisted and turned into something shocking and very different indeed. This is not music for the fainthearted, but I can also imagine this being played at raves with strobes going and people sweating to the beat. If you like your music out of left field, then this is for you.
