This is a somewhat unusually presented album in that the first four tracks are then combined with another piece to make a fifth which takes up more than half the album. Jimmy Ryan provides electric guitar and bass, and he is joined on this very relaxed harmonious journey by drummer Dan van Schindel. This is all about music that is restrained, considered, delicate and multi-layered, with space being an important element. Designed to relax the listener, the cover photograph certainly shows this as one can imagine this being played when the listener is trying to capture serenity and get away from the bustle of the crazy world we all live in. The first four tracks have a very clean sound, with Jimmy recording multiple tracks, and Dan providing sympathetic percussion/drums to ensure he is adding to but not overwhelming the emotions being created by the various guitars.

These four tracks are then combined with a fifth to create “The Healing Guitar In Nature Suite” which is more than 28 minutes in length. Here we have additional ambient sounds added, such as lifts the music further. Whereas the times in the initial tracks where they can become somewhat boring and repetitive, almost lethargic in nature, here they become special, at one with what is happening in the world. Consequently, if this was an album I would be playing often then I would ignore the first four songs and just play the last one on repeat, which in some ways then questions the validity of having them there as they are. Still, not everyone listens to music the same way as me and I am sure there are those who will enjoy listening to both styles and making up their own minds. One for fans of ambient and New Age.
