Andy is totally solo on this four-track release, which is somewhat unusual as this is an extended song, broken into three, plus a remix of the first. This, the title cut, originally appeared on Faunch’s second album, ‘Venice & Beethoven’, and apparently was always viewed by Andy as being a three-parter for an EP but it took until 2021 and much encouragement from Michael McClure to make it a reality. Here we find Andy in yet another musical style as this is a play for the ears, which somehow contains swirling keyboards, a hint of menace and danger, plus folk elements which make for a very interesting listen indeed.

It is strange to realise this was the third Faunch album from 2021, all very different indeed, and this certainly feels much more like a band release as opposed to a solo effort. It shows just how diverse a talent Andy is, and it is quite surprising he is not more well-known. There are some great arrangements on here, with the bass having a life of its own, and the deep synth adds an additional a feeling of dread. Apparently both the building and the legend of the ghost are real, and again it would be interesting to hear the themes of this release expanded into a fuller version, as again it is just too short. The eighties style synths are quite at odds with some of the styles being used, all of which works together very well indeed, and it would be nice to hear what the complete band would do on a greatly expanded concept release. Again, another interesting and pleasant listen.
