Variations On Themes by David Bedford” is an EP of re-interpretations of three classic Bedford compositions.

Robert Reed:
“I have been a huge fan of David’s work for many years, which was a massive influence on Mike Oldfield, with whom he worked in the 1970’s. I really think without David’s influence and encouragement, we would not have Tubular Bells. David was equally at home in the classical and the rock world, and had successful careers in both. I really want people to discover his work, which can at times be challenging, but at other times also very melodic. As a composer his maverick approach to music is sadly missed, so I’ve taken the original arrangements of 3 of his pieces and re interpreted them, using modern recording techniques. My mission was to do justice to his legacy while also trying to amplify their melodic and emotional context.”

Alongside Robert, the EP features Terry Oldfield as well as Les Penning (Ommadawn) and is mixed by legendary Tubular Bells producer Tom Newman. A special promo video has been made of a track off the EP “The Rio Grande” and features the stunning vocals of Angharad Brinn, who also sung on Robert’s two Sanctuary albums. See the video HERE
