No-one can accuse guitarist Todd Mosby of skimping on the musicians on this album as he has brought in Prince bassist Rhonda Smith, woodwind player Tom Scott (Joni Mitchell, Quincy Jones, Frank Sinatra), drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (Herbie Hancock, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa), Grammy-winning violinist Charlie Bisharat (Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Shadowfax), pianist Dapo Torimiro (Frank Ocean, Lauryn Hill), vocalist Laura Vall (Stevie Wonder), bassist Timothy Bailey (Ariana Grande, Julia Michaels, Jill Scott), award winning Los Angeles cellist Adrienne Woods (Ariana Grande, Josh Groban, Christina Aguilera), two-time Grammy winning producer Jeff Weber (Diane Reeves, Luther Vandross, David Crosby), and Emmy and Grammy-winning engineer Clark Germain (Michael Jackson, Wayne Shorter, Tina Turner).

So what does that get us? Impeccably performed music which takes influences from jazz, jazz fusion and samba through to Latin sounds like Bossanova. There is even an instrumental cover of “Norwegian Wood”, but the issue here is that there is just no feeling and emotion, it all feels way too clinical and there are times when I am reminded way too much of Seventies Cinema adverts. I am obviously not the target market as there have been rave reviews of this in multiple places, but for me music needs to evoke an emotional response and all I get with this is the desire to rapidly move onto something else. That everyone knows what they are doing and are following the script exactly is never in doubt, but this feels just way too clinical for me.
