I know I’ve said this before, but sooner or later Comatose Music are going to get themselves a heck of a reputation for finding and sourcing some of the best extreme metal music around, as this is yet another debut on the label which is a standout in every way. Based in Sacremento, the band was started by guitarist/vocalist Rob Calhoun in 2014, and it is only now that they have started to vent their anger on the world. This is brutal death metal, with little in the way of finesse, and just when the listener thinks it can’t get any more violent or any more intense the guys just turn the dial up to 11. As with all very good music, no matter the style, there are loads of shifts in attack and dynamics, and although someone who doesn’t like the scene will think this is just a noise, there are obvious technical nods to Nile, while both Cryptopsy and Cannibal Corpse are influences.

For me what really makes this album is not just the overbearing ferocity, the guttural tear your lungs out vocals, or even the blistering attack on the drums or the use of dialogue inserted here and there, but the bass and the way we get unexpected tones and sounds when it is being attacked. Yet again for a release from Comatose, I have to say they have released an album which is essential for any fan of the genre.
