Pretty Stooked: Wanted (2022) single
Songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Eddie Kiesanowski has been involved in music from a young age, and while studying at ARA he formed his first band, {Skelter}. After they had released their debut EP they headed off to Melbourne with mentor Tom Larkin ({Shihad}). The...
Aria: Love Songs Till Midnight (2022)
Here we have the debut EP from Aria, and a really interesting release it is as well. The focus throughout is on her pure clear vocals which have a tone that bring the listener in close, no matter what style they are performing. In that sense she is somewhat...
No Man’s Land: West Coast (2022) single
This is the third single from all-girl Wellington-based quartet {No Man’s Land}, which I am guessing is the rationale behind the name and I must admit it made me smile. That smile continued as I listened to West Coast as there is a naivety and pop sensibility to it...
Big Scout: Redwood Street Massive (2022) single
It’s not often that a song can take me straight back more than 40 years on the first time of hearing, only to reinforce that with repeated plays, but that is exactly what happened with this angry trio from Blenheim. This is stripped back music which has a great deal...

Saint Mercury [Ft. Shooless]: Ominous Warning (2022) single
{Saint Mercury} is the artist name for electronic producer Mark Linton who doesn’t see himself being at home in any particular genre but is more of a shapeshifter and on hearing this track one can understand why. Ominous Warning is his debut single, and he has given...
Gravel Pit / Wolves: Split (2022)
What we have here is a good old-fashioned split EP, something which I don’t get to see too often these days, bringing together two hard-hitting acts. Each band has one side, with three tracks from Auckland-based Wolves and two from Wellington’s Gravel Pit. This is the...
Junction 28 –Before You Drown (2022)
EP 19:43mins Recorded at Hidden Track Studios in Folkestone with producer Oz Craggs UK Band Rating 80/100 Junction 28 | Facebook Junction 28 Band It does not take long when listening to this EP by ‘Junction 28,’ and/or watching their YouTube content to realise that...
Alan Royes –AR Project 6 (2022)
Private Press EP 30mins UK It really is something quite special when a talented amateur musician finances the production of his own extended play album. Especially when the end product is then distributed freely around to his friends and associates and certainly not...

- The Pineapple Thief – Far And Wide
by Peter Hilton on October 9, 2026 at 4:00 pmIn the infancy of the internet era there were dial-up / email service providers, including my chosen supplier AOL. What has this got to do with The Pineapple Thief (TPT), you ask? Bear with me for a few paragraphs and…
- Nick Fletcher – An Unfolding Of Miracles
by Darren Walker on October 8, 2026 at 4:00 pmI am friends with many musicians, predominantly Prog, but a few who create music for less cultured tastes and most of them struggle to record and put out new material. Invariably they have day jobs, families and other things on…
- Kraanerg – Aria For Labellum Tongues
by Graham Thomas on October 7, 2026 at 4:00 pmKraanerg is the title of a ballet written by Iannis Xenakis in 1969. It is derived from the Greek and translates as ‘accomplished action’. It seems like an apt name for Nat Bergrin’s outfit, as they are certainly accomplished, and…
- Marillion
by Rob Fisher on October 5, 2026 at 4:00 pmEventim Apollo, London Thursday, 1 October 2026 Nobody asks the question out loud at the Eventim Apollo on Thursday night, yet it hangs, in some shape or form, over every song we hear. Marillion open with Gaza. Seventeen minutes of…
- Spratleys | Panixphere
by Dann Chinn (Guest) on October 4, 2026 at 4:00 pmThe Garage, Islington, London Friday, 11th September 2026 PANIXPHERE Panixphere have been around for almost as long as Bic Hayes has. It’s just that they’ve been almost terminally intermittent. Over the years, they’ve taken a back seat or a mothballed…
